Zone Interdite: Ophélie Meunier and her teams are interested in new families
“She is the most precious thing we have! For 83% of French people, the first priority is family. But today, this is no longer just confined to the model of a dad, a mom and children. Society evolves and the law with it. With the lifting of taboos on divorce, sexual orientation and gender change, new patterns, unthinkable just a few decades ago, have emerged. For several months, we filmed the daily lives of five families who have freed themselves from the ‘traditional’ model.“, first indicated M6 in a press release.
“You will discover how they are reinventing the way of raising their children and sometimes even conceiving them. Virginie and Sandrine, Nicolas and David, two homosexual couples, raise Victor, 9 years old, and Juliette, 16 years old, together, using the co-parenting model. To accompany this parental plan. They adapted their accommodation and set up a tailor-made care system. Everyone, biological parent or co-parent, has a say in the education of their children. But how can we achieve unanimity when major decisions must be made not by two people but by four people?“, the channel then added.
New families: no more taboos!
“Kevin has just had twins with his partner Émilie. Born in a woman’s body, this transgender dad today wants to prove to the world that he is a dad like any other. But to do this, he will have to overcome prejudices. Mattéo, a man born in a woman’s body, and Victoire, a woman born in a man’s body, are the first transgender couple in France to have given birth to a child. It was Mattéo who gave birth to little Avah on February 19, 2023“, also underlined M6.
“But both are now plunged into an administrative imbroglio because the Civil Status has given Mattéo the status of mother and Victoire that of father. With 130,000 divorces pronounced each year. Multi-stepfamilies are increasing. A model that sometimes sparks. Jérémie raises the two children he had with Virginie. But also the five that his partner had from two previous unions. Will he manage to impose his authority on all the siblings?“, the channel finally concluded.
