As the resumption approaches, RC Lens is preparing for a decisive transfer market to consolidate its ambitions in the second half of the season.
Between planned departures and targeted arrivals, the Artesian club juggles between sporting demands and economic constraints. Among the sensitive files, that of Nampalys Mendy attracts attention. Inactive since October 19 and at the end of his contract in June 2024, the Senegalese midfielder seems to be on his way out. However, Mendy remains selective: he recently declined an offer from a Saudi club, considered unconvincing, according to information from La Voix du Nord. If he is open to a transfer, he favors a sporting project that meets his expectations. A position which complicates the plans of Lens, wishing to reduce a sector of the midfield considered too congested.
Change to be expected in Lens
On the recruitment side, RC Lens has established clear priorities. The objective is to strengthen the squad with one or two attackers, including a winger, as well as a right piston. Aware of the financial imperatives, the club favors loans with a purchase option to limit expenses. At the same time, management is seeking to reduce its payroll, facilitating the departures of players deemed surplus. The club could in particular part ways with Abdukodir Khusanov, whose transfer would bring in a significant sum. Other players, like Andy Diouf and Angelo Fulgini, could also pack their bags. Neil El Aynaoui, looking for playing time after an injury, is being considered for a loan to relaunch his career.
This strategy responds to increased competition within the Lens squad, where even executives like Florian Sotoca and Jonathan Gradit are struggling to get playing time. Faced with a tense transfer market, RC Lens is moving forward with method and caution. Between sporting adjustments and budgetary rigor, the club hopes to take advantage of this winter window to consolidate its ambitions.
