Former pulmonologist at Morvan hospital and La Cavale Blanche in Brest, Norbert André uses his retirement to write. Among others.
Son premier roman, The lives of Brestwas released in May 2024. A book where he stages 150 years of the life of a family in the city of Ponant (and well beyond) through endearing characters.
Find his favorites of yesterday that he still frequents today.
THE KENNEDY GARDEN
My childhood place
I was eight years old when it opened, in 1965. I lived on rue Colbert, it was under my windows. The garden was teeming with children, with its pools where we played with our sailboats, its sandboxes.
SAINT-MALO STREET
Local heritage
It's good that it was saved. The bottom of the street is one of the oldest places in Brest.
As students, we made nocturnal expeditions there. Not far from Borda Street with its restaurants and night bars.
THE MORVAN HOSPITAL
A remarkable place
I started my career there as a student, intern and doctor. The establishment left an impression on me, with its life in the basements. We met extraordinary people there, like this tramp who said he was Johnny Hallyday's guitarist!
THE ARMORICAINE STADIUM
Collective emotions
This was the former name of the Francis-Le Blé stadium. I went there with my uncle the first time in 1968 to support Stade Brestois. It is the place of collective emotions par excellence, the essence of football. I am still a subscriber to Stade Brestois 29.
