“A person opened fire on a patrol operating in the area, where security forces arrived (…) and located the shooter who tried to flee,” according to authorities.

Regular protests against Israel

The man, “pursued and surrounded, began firing shots at the security forces, who in return applied the rules of engagement, which allowed the perpetrator to be killed,” they added.

Protests against the Israeli embassy have regularly taken place in recent years in the Rabieh neighborhood in the northwest of the Jordanian capital.
