This Saturday, November 23, a fire broke out at the Duban farm, located near departmental road 934, in Englefontaine (North). Around 10 p.m., the first alerts were given when a fire spread from an agricultural warehouse before quickly reaching the adjoining house. Fortunately, thanks to the rapid intervention of emergency services, the eight members of the family were able to be evacuated without injury.
North: a fire at the Duban farm
The situation required a significant mobilization of firefighters, with around forty men deployed on site to control the flames, particularly in the home, where the fire threatened to spread further. “We prioritized the fire in the house.”explained Captain Audrey Jover, column leader of the Avesnois sector.
The wind, particularly strong that evening, complicated the firefighters' efforts, but despite the difficult conditions, the fire was brought under control. Departmental road 934, rue Victorien Cantineau, was closed to traffic in order to facilitate the emergency response. The authorities advised avoiding the area, as traffic remained particularly tense throughout the night. The causes of the fire remain undetermined at this stage.
