Monegasque youth in power.
For the opening of this 12e day of Ligue 1, Monaco received Brestois lacking confidence in the championship with two defeats against Montpellier (3-1) and Nice (0-1). Thanks to undivided domination during the first half, the Monegasques ended up winning 2 to 1, despite the Brestois reducing the gap at the start of the second half. Monaco thus confirms its position as runner-up to PSG, while Brest stagnates at 12e place.
The evening of the first goals
The Monegasques quickly took the lead in the matchthanks to its young shoots Magnes Akliouche and Eliesse Ben Seghir. The French international hopeful only needed one chance to score his first goal of the season and open the ASM counter after a three-star service from Ben Seghir (1-0, 5e). The Monegasque striker could even have done it again a few minutes later, but his shot crashed into Marco Bizot's post (9e). The goal of the break finally came of another player silent in front of the goal until thenAleksandr Golovin, who benefited from Denis Zakaria's poor recovery to recover the ball and deceive Bizot's vigilance (2-0, 24e). In difficulty in the game during the first period, Stade Brestois also lost Pierre Lees-Melou to injury (20e).
Stung, the Brestois returned from the locker room with better intentions, even reducing the gap at the start of the second half thanks to Abdallah Sima, also author of his first goal of the season, who perfectly uncrossed his head to find the path of Radosław Majecki fillets (2-1, 50e). However, the Pirates did not manage to equalize in a meeting which gradually became tense, as shown by the expulsion of Eric Roy (67e).
Carried forward, the Brestois ended up putting themselves in danger on Monegasque counter-attacks, and Akliouche did not hesitate to score a double with a sublime dive in added time (3-1, 90e+1). But that was without the resilience of Ludovic Ajorque who came to give a bit of hope to the Bretons (3-2, 90e+5)…but too late.
The people of Brest may have regrets given the appearance of the match.
