The Marne prefecture has banned, by decree, the presence on public roads of supporters of the Stade de Reims or the Club Sportif Sedan Ardennes (CSSA) for the Regional 2 match between Reims Football Club Christo and CSSA scheduled for Sunday, November 24 at 2:30 p.m., at the Marcel Thil stadium in Cormontreuil, near Reims.

The prefectural decree, dated this Friday, November 22, 2024, highlights “risk of disturbances to public order by ultra supporters from both camps”. He prohibits supporters from “driving or parking on public roads” in a large area around the stadium, but also in the city center of Reims. Furthermore, the use of smoke bombs is prohibited within a radius of 500 meters around the stadium.

The prefecture details in its order the reasons which led it to take such a ban. On August 25, 2024, for the first match of the season, “no less than 250 Sedan supporters including 80 ultras” had made the trip to Épernay. “A few members of the small Reims hooligan group 'MesOs'” were present near the stadium. Seeing them, “around sixty Sedan ultras from Young Boys then refused to enter the stadium and approached their rivals with the obvious aim of fighting”details the prefecture. The police will have to intervene to restore calm, it is specified.

A month later, on September 22, on the occasion of a new trip by the CSSA to the Marne, this time to Berru, from “serious disturbances to public order” were avoided according to the prefecture thanks to the intervention of the gendarmerie while “the 'MesOs' accompanied by allies from their movement (60 to 80 people) planned to go in large numbers to this meeting in order to do battle with the Sedanais.”

Since the incidents reported in Épernay at the end of August, all CSSA trips to a stadium in Marne as part of the Regional 2 championship have been governed by prefectural decrees prohibiting the presence of Sedan or Reims supporters on public roads. This was therefore the case for the match of September 22 against Cernay Berru Lavannes, for that of November 3 against Reims Sainte-Anne, or even that of November 15 against FC Côte des Blancs.

On the sporting side, CSSA is currently in first place in the Regional 2 Pool A ranking, with 23 points obtained in 9 championship days (8 wins, 0 draws, 1 loss).
