The players vote for the men’s World 11 and the players vote for the women’s World 11. Each voter votes for the three players who, in their opinion, shone the most in each of the following positions: goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and attacker. The goalkeeper, the three defenders, the three midfielders and the three attackers who obtained the most votes for their position earn a place in the World 11. 11th place is awarded to the outfield player who obtained the highest number of voice.
The same criterion is used for female footballers.
The 26 finalists will be announced on December 2, 2024, and the 11 global winners on December 9, 2024. This year marks a new era for the awards: winners will be announced online and receive a new trophy in person.
“The FIFPRO World 11, now in its 20th edition, is the recognition of the individual talent, dedication and hard work of footballers by their professional colleagues,” said Stéphane Burchkalter, FIFPRO interim secretary general. “We are delighted that Footballco is helping us celebrate this important moment for footballers.”
James Lamon, Executive Chairman of Content and Operations at Footballco, said: “We are excited to work with FIFPRO to celebrate the world’s best players and continue our strategy to bring our fans closer to the players they love. With the combination of popular video formats and a truly global audience, we know we can celebrate these players in a way that will resonate with fans and be just as enjoyable for the players involved.”
