Two fires occurred a few minutes apart in businesses on Roussel Street, in Chicoutimi-Nord, early Friday morning. The events are under investigation by the Saguenay police department.
Firefighters were first called to the Pizzeria – rotisserie l'Espoir around 5:30 a.m. as flames raged in a warehouse at the rear of the business. The owner, who was sleeping there, was evacuated, but was not injured. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control.

As they left the scene around 6:15 a.m., they again saw smoke in the area. This time it was a garage located behind the branch of the Société des Alcools du Québec on Roussel Street which was on fire. They also brought the disaster under control quickly.
As the origin of the fires is not clearly accidental, the police protect the scenes and specialist investigators must go to the site to carry out assessments.
