What to do during a weekend in the German capital?

Want to escape France during the Olympic Games? Or to spend time away from the crowded coasts of France to enjoy your summer? Why not go to Berlin for a few days? Green spaces, museums, thrift stores and street art, the German capital has something to seduce.

Not to be missed… Obviously the East Side Gallery

Spread over 1,316 meters long, the East Side Gallery is a gigantic open-air art museum. Along the Spree, the space is the largest section of the Wall still intact. 118 artists from 21 countries have already left their mark on the concrete. Among the most famous works are “Brotherly Kiss” by Dimitrji Vrubel, or the colorful heads of Thierry Noir, legendary figure of the urban art scene, who already painted the Wall in the 1980s.

What if we saw a show dressed up by Jean Paul Gaultier?

To end a day in style, we head to the Friedrichstadt-Palast. To do what ? To see a German magazine… but with a little French soul. And yes, Jean Paul Gaultier is responsible for the visual design of the show. But that’s not all, with the show Falling | In Loveit’s a feast for the eyes, 100 million Swarovski crystals (including the largest in the world) and a hundred artists are gathered on the biggest stage in the world.

Stroll through the « village » Raw terrain

How can we renovate the architecture of a city split in two for decades between a Western bloc and a Soviet bloc? With Raw Gelände, Berlin has decided to highlight this old train station. There are art exhibitions, play areas for children and even a climbing room in an old bunker… A multifunctional space which, above all, remains one of the rare alternative places preserved almost in its original form… but in in front of a little bobo.

We could have recommended one of Berlin’s many nightclubs, but we found a better concept than Berghain (the city’s most famous club, where access is more guarded than the G20 conference room). Teledisko! This small club looks like an old telephone booth, or a refrigerator… But this discotheque of only one square meter is in reality the “smallest nightclub in the world”. You shake your hips for four minutes and at any time of the day or night. You can even choose your favorite song.
