A family of fishermen made an extremely rare discovery off the coast of Finistère.

This is called a golden catch. While fishing on the island of Ouessant at the beginning of August, off the coast of Finistère, Jean-Denis Le Pape, a fisherman, was amazed when he pulled up his nets.

The reason? Inside was a golden lobster, report our colleagues from Bleu Breizh Izel. You may not know it, but this crustacean is estimated to have a one in 30 million chance of being caught.

«A golden lobster is a blue lobster with a small genetic difference. My companion was lucky to catch one at the tip of Pern (…)», Indicated Ondine Morin, the companion of Jean-Denis Le Pape, on local radio.

Before adding:

«There are electric blue lobsters and albino lobsters (…) but the golden lobster is the rarest and it's the one we caught».

Family adopts lobster

After capturing the unusual specimen, the family decided to adopt it in order to take care of it.

«We immediately saw that the other lobsters were jumping on him. We pampered it, with a swimming pool of 600 liters of water. We gave him food“, explained the mother.

Nevertheless, the couple chose to entrust the animal to the Trégastel aquarium in Côtes-d'Armor “for molting under supervision”, specify our colleagues.

«Molting should take place this winter. Its shell will be shipped to the United States, to Maine, to a professor who works precisely on these lobsters. The question is whether there are more of them with global warming», Detailed Ondine Morin.

A great adventure awaits the golden lobster, which has become a star in !
