Amazfit GTR Mini smartwatch receives new update with GPS improvements

Zepp Health announced the OTA 5 update of the Amazfit GTR Mini smartwatch. The wearable watch was launched in early 2023 with features such as heart rate measurement, sleep quality monitoring, and GPS tracking. The watch supports five satellite systems and uses patented circularly polarized GPS antenna technology.

The OTA 5 update, firmware version 5.5.2.2, is claimed to improve the accuracy of GPS tracking during workouts such as cycling and running. However, Zepp Health does not explain exactly what has changed or where Amazfit GTR Mini users can benefit from it. According to a recent post on Discord, the update is currently only available to a limited number of customers. A wider global rollout is planned starting November 28, although it is unclear how long this process will take.

When it becomes available, you will be able to update the smartwatch via the Zepp app, which was recently updated to version 9.0.0. To trigger the installation, go to Profile > Amazfit GTR Mini > System Update. The Amazfit GTR Mini smartwatch is currently available on Amazon for $84.99, after selling for $99.99 in early October.
