A design that is still as convincing, with a superb screen
Even if you know the design of the Asus Zenbook range well, the UM3406 model has its little effect. We still have an effective formula, with attractive little lines on the top of its metal chassis and an extremely contained weight of 1.2 kg. This AMD version makes a slight sacrifice in connectivity, offering a single USB-A 3.2 port, an HDMI port, the headphone port, and two USB-C format sockets, but no dual Thunderbolt compatibility.
Once turned on, we discover a beautiful OLED screen with a 2.8K definition (2,880 x 1,800 pixels) and supports a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. We benefit from the deep blacks and infinite contrasts of the Oled, the screen is well calibrated and only suffers from a brightness that is a little too limited. Whether for office work or for watching movies and series, the image quality is there.
A faster AMD chip
In terms of performance, this laptop is based on a Ryzen 7 8840HS processor supported by 16 GB of RAM. This configuration remains superior to that offered by Intel (the Core Ultra 7 155H) and is comfortable with all the tasks you impose on it, but will not be able to satisfy demanding gamers. Add to this a 512 GB SSD which, in addition to giving you plenty of storage capacity, reduces loading times and speeds up launches of your machine.
Finally, to stay productive, the Zenbook 14 OLED (UM3406) is equipped with a 75 Wh battery that provides around fifteen hours of battery life for the device. This figure may vary depending on your usage, but if you run out of battery: fast charging is included and allows you to reach 60% capacity in just 49 minutes.
