The Diablotins lost their double confrontation against the Czech Republic and will not see Euro 2025. During the return leg and while Belgium was already leading 0-1, a penalty seemed to have been forgotten by the main referee.

The Diablotins concluded a catastrophic international truce for Belgian football by sharing the stakes in the Czech Republic on Tuesday. A sharing which means elimination and non-participation in Euro 2025.

Beaten 0-2 in the first leg, Belgium was back in the game. Jarne Steuckers opened the scoring in a superb way, before this collision with Rein Van Helden in the area. Without VAR, the match referee did not flinch.

A phase which had the gift of annoying Gill Swerts, since a few minutes later, the Czechs equalized and destroyed the last hopes of the Belgians. “It’s a 100% penalty. You keep the zero at the break, you score… then, there’s this penalty which could have put you at 0-2 and who knows what could have happened”, whispered the Espoirs coach (read here).

The regrets, which were already enormous, are even more so with this phase. Tell us below: penalty, in your opinion?
