On Monday November 18, 2024, Sam Kerr, iconic captain of the Australian football team, shared news that made his fans melt on social networks. With a series of black and white photos, the 31-year-old star announced that she and her fiancée Kristie Mewis, 33-year-old American player playing for West Ham, were expecting their first child together. In one of the photos, Kerr tenderly points to his partner’s belly. Under these photos posted on Instagram, a tender caption, “the Mewis-Kerr baby is coming in 2025!”

The publication also included an ultrasound showing their future baby. A publication liked by nearly 400,000 people including Australian actress Rebel Wilson who also became a mother with her wife, Ramona Agruma. A couple since 2021, Kerr and Mewis announced their engagement in 2023. “She is everything to me. She is my biggest supporter, she always listens to me complain, all my crazy things”wrote Kristie Mewislast November on his Instagram account.

Since their romance began in 2021, Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis have made a point of showing their relationship in public. “Being two girls in love and showing it is important”they explained in the media. In the caption, a few simple but strong words, “my partner for life”. A gesture of love which immediately sparked a wave of congratulations, both from their teammates and supporters. Wendie Renard, Eugénie Le Sommer, Griedge Mbock, as well as Olympique Lyonnais itself, did not fail to express their joy under the publication, with a warm “Congratulations !”.

Like Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis, Ellie Carpenter and Danielle van de Donk met in 2021, in their club OL, one of the bastions of women’s football in Europe. Ellie Carpenter, who arrived in 2020, is one of the essential players on the right flank.
