Apple rolls out its iOS 18.1.1 security update

This Tuesday, November 19, Apple deployed a patch to resolve issues related to the security of its devices. This update is recommended for all Apple users who own an iPhone (iOS 18.1.1), iPad (iPadOS 181.1.1), Mac (macOS 15.1.1), or Vision Pro headset (visionOS 2.1.1) . Apple details, on a dedicated page, security flaws concerning JavaScriptXCore and WebKit.

Note that, if your iPhone is still running iOS 17, Apple has also deployed this security update, under iOS 17.7.2.

How to download iOS 18.1.1 update

It is recommended to download the latest update as soon as possible on your iPhone. To obtain iOS 18.1.1, the procedure is simple:

  • On your iPhone, go to the application Settings,
  • Click on GeneralThen Software update,
  • iOS 18.1.1 appears, press the button To update,
  • Start downloading the update. Your iPhone then shuts down to install the update. This procedure only takes a few minutes.

The procedure is similar on iPads. To install macOS 15.1.1, go to this help page.

The last update before iOS 18.2?

If everything goes smoothly, iOS 18.1.1 should be the last update before the arrival of iOS 18.2, scheduled for early December.

Currently in the beta phase, this update should offer several new features: redesign of the Mail application, volume limiter, possibility of deleting preinstalled applications (option exclusive to residents of the European Union), etc.

Without forgetting Apple Intelligence, with the integration of ChatGPT via Siri, the arrival of an emoji creation tool or even the deployment of a new image generation application. As a reminder, these AI features will not be available in EU countries: the deployment of Apple Intelligence on iPhones and iPads is planned for April 2025.
