JAKARTA – The Curiosity rover has been exploring Gediz Vallis, a region on Mars suspected of being the base of the Dry River, over the past year. Curiosity will leave the location.
NASA explained that its rover was preparing for the next journey. Before leaving the mysterious location, Curiosity collected images of rock and features in a 360-degree view.
To maximize the structuring of the mosaic, Curiosity headed to the west bank of Gediz Vallis at the end of September. Curiosity’s instrument continued to move while capturing the people moving away from the Gediz Vallis Channel westward on November 2.
“The rover is looking for evidence that ancient Mars had the right materials to support the life of microbes, if there was any formation billions of years ago, when the Red Planet had lakes and rivers” , NASA said on its official website.
The results of the 360-degree array are still being prepared by scientists. Later, the results from the array that NASA will distribute will display various features inside the channel, including a debris spatter named Pinnacle Rpose.
According to the overview obtained by Curiosity, scientists have managed to separate elements of the rock expanse at this location. Thanks to images from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) and the science instrument on the Martian route, it was revealed that the rock was purely lock.
“The team had no clear explanation for why the snake formed there; On Earth, the snake is associated with volcanoes and hot springs, and there is no evidence on Mount Sharp to suggest any of these causes,” NASA explained.
To learn more about the elements and signs that lead to biological discovery on Mars, Curiosity will continue to explore the planet. Starting next year, this vehicle will survey areas similar to Mount Sharp in other regions.
