Garou: what do we know about his daughter Emelie, aged 23?

Adored by the public, Garou left his mark on the French musical scene thanks to his gravelly voice, his legendary role as Quasimodo in Notre Dame de Paris and his hits that we still hum today. Now back in Quebec, where he lives as a recluse in the forest, he has decided to devote himself to his new passion: maple syrup which he has started to produce. However, the singer who is celebrating his fifty-second birthday this Wednesday, June 26, made a resounding return in 2022, with a new tour Up Scene. At the time, he made the rounds in the French media, explaining that this tour and his new songs would never have seen the light of day without the help of his daughter, Emelie.

The young woman, almost 23 years old, was born on July 7, 2001. Born from the union between Garou and the Swedish model Ulrika, she spent her entire childhood in Quebec. Like her father, Emelie is passionate about music. However, not wanting to be just “the daughter of”, she preferred never to launch herself professionally: “I tried to teach her the piano, the guitar, she didn’t want to! She was stuck, saying to herself: ‘that’s dad’s, no one is going to listen to my stuff, I don’t want to'”, Garou revealed in We’re live in 2022. But everything changed when the singer gave him a ukulele. In 48 hours, the young woman had learned to play, but that’s not all! This instrument also pushed her to compose and write her own songs, which motivated Garou to do the same with her single, Up Scene. A first for the artist!

Garou, an absent father for his daughter

If Garou seems to be close to his daughter today, this was not always the case. Indeed, in 2022, on the occasion of his appearance on Laurent Mariotte’s show Sunday table on Europe 1, he admitted to having been a “papa absent”. By returning to settle permanently in Quebec, the singer hoped to reconnect with Emelie. Unfortunately, it was the young woman who decided to start traveling to the four corners of the world, making the most of her youth! However, when they meet again, their complicity is obvious: “We have so much to tell each other that we tell each other the depths of life and that creates a relationship that has nothing to do with routine. […] When we get together with my daughter, we drive two hours then blah blah blah. She tells me too much sometimes! I don’t want to know everything!” he confided with humor.
