The appearance of light garlands in the shopping streets and that of a good-sized tree in front of the station are unmistakable signs: Christmas is approaching. But the bulk of the festivities are still to come. First of all, the Christmas market which will enliven the courtyard of the Château de Vitré for two long consecutive weekends: Friday the 13th, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday the 14th, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday December 15, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., then from Friday December 20 to Monday December 23 (from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.). Twenty-five exhibitors will offer regional products, from crafts, for decoration or to consume.
The event will be marked by several activities such as, to open the first weekend, a gospel concert by the group New Sound. Bagad Dor Vras will be responsible for setting the mood on the second weekend. Creative workshops for children will also be offered, as well as a stroll through the streets of the city center, led by a guide-lecturer. Children will be able to enjoy the carousel for free, this old-fashioned decorated ride which will operate from Friday November 29 to Sunday January 5, until 9 p.m. on Christmas market days.
Shops open, four Sundays before Christmas
For their part, merchants will be able to open the four Sundays preceding Christmas: the 1stisDecember 8, 15 and 22. The last two weekends, their association, “Vitré Atout”, will offer a series of additional activities: a makeup stand, brass bands, walks in the city center and photos with Santa Claus, in the afternoon. noon on Saturdays, December 14 and 21 and Sundays, December 15 and 22.
Between Christmas and New Year's Day, from December 27 to 29, the Château de Vitré will this time serve as the setting for a mystery investigation whose starting point is a painting, exhibited at the château, which brings to life a mysterious ghost. Young and old will then be invited to search for the Christmas spirit in the heart of the Barons' castle. Laughter and thrills guaranteed.
