The accident took place around 2 a.m. this Monday, November 18, 2024. A car hit the concrete fence of a home, located in Gourbeyre. On board, two young men aged 20 and 30, whom the emergency services had to extricate. They both died. The number of deaths on the roads of Guadeloupe is 43 in 2024.
Two young men, aged 20 and 30, were killed this Monday, November 18, 2024 around 2 a.m. at the Blanchet roundabout in Gourbeyre. Their car crashed into the concrete fence of a home. The violent impact knocked the car onto its roof. When emergency services arrived on site, they discovered the car with the roof completely flattened and the two victims incarcerated in the pile of scrap metal.

7 firefighters, the SMUR, the internal security forces and the security deputy of the town of Gourbeyre were at the scene of the accident. This is unfortunately not the first time that a serious accident has occurred in Gourbeyre. On August 25, a 23-year-old young woman lost her life.
This accident further increases the road toll in Guadeloupe. This leads to 43 the number of road deaths in 2024 compared to 39 in 2023.
