Whether you are a millennial or from Gen Z, you can be recognized at a glance according to a new trend that has emerged on TikTok. Decryption.

According to some TikTok users, there is an unstoppable way to differentiate the millennial generation from Generation Z. This one concerns socks. Indeed, Gen Z would tend to opt for high socks, reaching mid-calf, while those born between the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s would opt for ankle socks. A way of differentiating the two generations that took root on TikTok. On the social network, this opposition first emerged through different trends, such as slim jeans vs. jeans. cargo pants. In terms of hairstyle, the side parting of millennials has been mocked by generation Z, preferring the parting in the middle.

Differentiating generations via socks: the example of Billie Eilish vs. Jennifer Lawrence

Last October, pilates instructor Phoebe Parsons was the first to notice a difference between Gen Z and millennials in the way they wear socks. A TikTok that reached 3.6 million views. As for celebrities, the trend is also confirmed, with Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo in particular, seen on numerous occasions wearing knee-high socks. Conversely, Jennifer Lawrence was spotted wearing socks matched with a pair of moccasins. On her Instagram account, Lindsay Lohan proved to be also part of the Generation Y team, posting numerous photos in leggings and ankle-length socks. The question everyone is asking now: what will be the next difference that will widen the gap between millennials and Gen Z?
