Is this Domenico Tedesco’s last eleven? Difficult to say, but whatever it is, the coach will still have had the “merit” of surprising.
This morning, we revealed to you what we thought would look like the Red Devils’ starting lineup against Israel in Budapest. We were not totally wrong, but not 100% right either: yes, Domenico Tedesco decided to surprise, but not in the expected positions.
In defense, first of all, Timothy Castagne, captain, is indeed moving to left back, while the axis will a priori be occupied by the duo Al Dakhil – Faes with Zeno Debast at right back… unless Debast plays in the center and Ameen Al Dakhil at right back, where he has already played for club.
In midfield, we thought Tedesco would hesitate between Arne Engels and Arthur Vermeeren alongside Orel Mangala: he decided to line up all three, without a real No.10 – even though Vermeeren will probably have the most offensive freedom in the triangle.
Leandro Trossard is indeed the starter: he will take his place on the left flank, with Dodi Lukebakio starting on the right flank. Loïs Openda, of course, is lined up up front, since he is the only option with Norman Bassette who can hope for an unexpected debut for the national team in the second half.
Still no tenure, therefore, for a Johan Bakayoko who we can begin to wonder if he is only dismissed on sporting grounds as the difference is great between his status at the start of the Tedesco era and today…
