Samuel Eto’o wants live broadcast of his hearing at CAF

Expected this Tuesday before the disciplinary jury of the African Football Confederation, the president of Fecafoot, Samuel Eto’o wants the hearing to be broadcast live.

It is rather an unexpected request that the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation has just made. An attempt to turn public opinion around because the former captain of the indomitable lions knows full well that CAF will not grant this request.

Accused of match fixing, favoritism and partnership with a sports betting company in violation of FIFA player status, Samuel Eto’o risks big.

On his Facebook page he requests a live broadcast of his audience. Verbatim:

The president of the Cameroonian Football Federation will ask the African Football Confederation to kindly authorize the live broadcast of his hearing before the Disciplinary Jury before which he will appear on June 25, 2024.
This request, which expresses a deep desire for transparency, is in no way an expression of distrust in the body concerned, far from it, because the credibility of the continental confederation is an imperative which important to any serious African sports leader. This request is formulated with the aim of removing any ambiguity in a context of interference by Cameroonian political actors in the procedure, who have joined forces with identified personal interests.
Samuel Eto’o reminds us, if necessary, that he led an international career without any cheating and in scrupulous observance of the values of sport and the rules in force. He therefore wishes to clear his honor while strictly respecting his rights to defense, of which the publicity of hearings is one of the cardinal principles.
As a result, he intends to involve continental football players and the general public in the quest for truth which constitutes the subject of this procedure. Considering that the governance of our sport cannot obscure the respect and consideration due to its actors, he humbly calls on Caf to be a glass house where the elected leaders of the member federations are judged in all fairness and transparency.

Made in Cairo,
Samuel Eto’o
President of FECAFOOT.

Samuel Eto’o
