Fifteen firefighters from the Pont-l’Évêque, Touques and Caen centers, using three fire engines, intervened to put out a fire in the Tipiak Panification factory, specializing in the production of croutons, in Pont-l ‘Bishop (Calvados), at 7:30 a.m., Monday June 24, 2024. No injuries were reported by the twenty employees present on site who were evacuated.

“An internal investigation is underway”

“The incident occurred on one of the manufacturing lines, in a steam extraction chimney which should be replaced and checked before restarting the line concerned, the company said in a press release Monday afternoon. The Tipiak teams quickly detected the start of the fire, organizing the evacuation of personnel and securing the installations. At this stage, an internal investigation is underway to assess the causes of this incident. The teams on site are doing everything they can to be able to resume activity as quickly as possible on the 2e line which remains operational and avoid impacts for employees. »

No partial activity measure has been put in place and “all employees will be back on the site on Tuesday June 25”.
