An impressive accident occurred this Saturday, November 16, around 6:45 a.m., on the A1 motorway, in Oise, towards Paris.
A Romanian heavy goods vehicle hit a car stopped on the emergency lane before falling on its side, near the Roberval bridge.
A heroic intervention
A police officer from Seine-Saint-Denis and a gendarme from Senlis, present at the scene by chance, intervened quickly to rescue the truck driver. Stuck in his passenger compartment, the man was extricated just in time, before the tank of the heavy goods vehicle caught fire, thus avoiding a tragedy.
Severely disrupted traffic
Following this accident, Sanef had to close the A1 motorway for several kilometers, forcing motorists to take exit no. 9 towards Pont-Sainte-Maxence. These deviations caused significant traffic difficulties on the secondary network. Traffic jams lasting more than 40 minutes have been reported in particular in Les Ageux and Pont-Sainte-Maxence, as reported by L'Observateur.
An ongoing investigation
The exact circumstances of this accident remain to be determined. An investigation was opened to clarify the facts.
This tragedy, fortunately without human loss, once again underlines the importance of vigilance on the roads and the key role of the police, whose responsiveness saved a life.
