Big scare during the Netherlands – Hungary match. Counting for the fifth day of the Nations League group stage, the meeting organized at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam was temporarily interrupted this Saturday evening.
As the clock showed eight minutes on the clock, the players on the Hungarian bench rushed around the seat occupied by one of the members of the technical staff. The latter, having violent spasms, felt unwell, causing panic among the Magyar holders and requiring the intervention of medical emergency services.
Shocked, the Hungarian players gathered to form a circle around their bench while the medical team provided cardiac massage to the victim, finally evacuated under a tarpaulin in a scene reminiscent of the discomfort suffered by the Dane Christian Eriksen during Euro 2021.
After reflection, the Hungarian team finally decided to resume the match after ten minutes of vagueness, despite the strong concern visible on the faces of Dominik Szoboszlai’s teammates. At halftime, the Netherlands led 1-0 thanks to a penalty converted by Wout Weghorst.
