Around sixty authors, a few publishers and booksellers, two binders… and hundreds of books to discover! On one stand, old works on Franche-Comté are for sale, while on another nearby, researchers present their latest research.
Organized by the “Salins, Pays du Livre” association, this fair has become a must in the region for book lovers. “We have a lot of people from the region and we are still a little overflowing,” confides Frédéric Godin, manager of the show and president of the organizing association. A show which constitutes the association's most important annual event. To best enliven these two days, readings and writing workshops were offered.
Tribute to Max Buchon
A living room in homage to Max Buchon (1818-1869). An author who was famous in his time, relatively forgotten today. The opportunity to put the spotlight back on him, as Frédéric Godin confides.
He continues; “Max Buchon was very attached to his Jura and Salins-les-Bains. He translated German writers, including the Brothers Grimm. He wrote a lot of poetry. He wanted to be close to people, to workers… He was a friend of Gustave Courbet (1819-1877) and he met Victor Considerant (1808-1893). One of his most famous novels is Le Matachinwhich takes place in Salins. He died in Salins. »
