The owner of a pizzeria in Issy-les-Moulineaux, in the close suburbs of Paris, “cut off” this Saturday, November 16, 2024 in its establishment, holding “a few employees”, indicated to theAFP the Paris fire brigade (BSPP).
The four hostages were finally released around 4 p.m. and the man arrested, according to a police source at theAFP. He was armed with a knife.
The intervention took place without incident, there were no injuries, this source said.
“The person concerned’s desire to commit suicide”
A large police force had been set up around the restaurant located a few dozen meters from the Paris ring road.
The man had locked himself in this restaurant in Issy-les-Moulineaux, southwest of the capital, shortly before 1 p.m., retaining four employees. There was no clientele or audience.
A mediator from the BRI (Research and Intervention Brigade, elite unit of the Paris police) was “committed, due to the person concerned’s desire to commit suicide”. However, the man is not known to the courts.
