The firefighters have been fighting since this Saturday evening, around 11:30 p.m., against a fire which broke out in the restaurant Le Mékong, on the ground floor of a building of the Grand Street in Peyrins. The building was engulfed in smoke. Five residents of the two upper floors had to be evacuated. At the height of the fire, 73 firefighters were mobilized. The fire is now out this Sunday evening.
Collapsed ceilings
Among them, one specialized long-term intervention team : they are firefighters, with larger air cylinders, which give them more autonomy in the fight against fire. These firefighters came from Saint-Marcel-lès-Valence, Valence, Montélimar. A drone pilot was also hired. Big resources because the fire is indeed difficult to control. He took in an old building, a stone house, in the Grand Rue. During the night, the floors of the 1st and 2nd floors also partially collapsed, making the work of the firefighters even more complicated.
Five residents, including seniors according to Mayor Philippe Baneron, were quickly evacuated. They are fine: they have lightly inhaled smoke. They were relocated by relatives. There is actually not much left of the building. The employees of the restaurant on the ground floor will find themselves unemployed.
All-day mobilization of firefighters
The fire is now extinguished this Sunday evening, but firefighters remained on site all day, in particular to prevent spread to another home.
