This November 15, 2024, a ceremony was organized at the Faisal Grand Mosque by the collective of former members of the CNRD government in favor of the president of the transition, General Mamadi Doumbouya. The event was marked by the reading of the Holy Quran by more than 200 imams from the 13 communes of the administrative region of Conakry.

This event brought together around ten former ministers who form, moreover, the Collective of Former Ministers. Among the personalities present, Guillaume Hawing, the former Minister of Pre-university Education and Literacy, who spoke about the reason for this initiative. “The president had confidence in us. We were with him yesterday, we are with him today and we will continue to stay with him tomorrow. These are times when we must entrust ourselves to God,” he declared. Stressing the importance of loyalty and unity, Hawing spoke of the bonds that continue to bring these former ministers together, despite their exit from government.

“We are a family, we come together, we work together, we think together, we have a common vision. Unlike others who, after leaving government, oppose the one who raised them, we have chosen to remain faithful to our common vision for the country,” he continued, recalling the lessons received during their collective visit to Kaléa.

Elhadj Mamadou Saliou Camara, first imam of the Faisal Grand Mosque, praised the initiative and commitment of former members of the government. “I am very happy to see my former ministers gathered here to pray for the country, for the president, and for all the patriotic sons who work for the advancement of Guinea,” he declared.

The imam also insisted on the value of faith as the cement of human relationships. “The best relationship in life is the relationship of faith. When we have faith, we forgive those who have hurt us. Today, they may no longer be ministers, but they are and will remain sons of this country. Their presence here is a mark of patriotism and recognition,” he said.

This prayer for the president of the transition, General Mamadi Doumbouya, is the start of a series of activities that these former ministers of the CNRD government intend to organize.
