Amazon is ending its Amazon Fresh delivery service for fresh food products in Germany in favor of food supplier Knuspr, a German subsidiary of the Czech Rohlik group.
E-commerce giant Amazon announces the end of Amazon Fresh, a fresh food delivery service, in Germany. “Amazon Fresh will no longer be available from December 14, 2024,” the company announced to its customers. This service was set up 7 years ago. Until then, it was only available in 4 German cities: Berlin, Potsdam, Hamburg and Munich. At its launch, Amazon Fresh had a selection of more than 85,000 items, compared to only 9,000 today, reports the Lebensmittel Zeitung. “We have evaluated our offering and logistics network in Germany and have decided to simplify our food offering on Amazon.de and focus on our large and growing shelf-stable food business,” said the spokesperson for Amazon.de at Tagesschau. Last week, Amazon announced the start of a partnership with the food product supplier Knuspr of the Czech Rohlik group. From now on, Amazon Prime members will have access to the 15,000 fresh products offered by Knuspr, thus the German subsidiary will take over the fresh food delivery service. In addition, customers will be able to have their order delivered to their home within two hours, thanks, among other things, to the logistics already available to Knuspr. For the moment, this partnership concerns the Berlin region. The Rhine-Main region and Munich are expected to follow.
