The France-Israel football match was marked, Thursday, November 14 at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, by brief incidents in the stands. A crowd movement was noticed at the place where the Israeli supporters were gathered, and the stewards intervened to prevent them from mingling with the French fans, according to journalists from Radio France and AFP present on site.
In videos broadcast on the social network X, spectators can be seen running in the aisles, some with Israeli flags, while other supporters whistle and boo. Questioned by AFP, the police headquarters did not wish to communicate any information on this short crowd movement, pending clarification on the circumstances, “still unclear”.
The Israeli anthem was also whistled at the start of the match, while Israeli supporters waved yellow balloons and called for the release of hostages held in the Gaza Strip, according to a franceinfo journalist. An exceptional security system was put in place to supervise this League of Nations meeting, where fewer than 20,000 spectators were present. It took place in a tense climate after last week’s violence on the sidelines of a Maccabi Tel-Aviv match in Amsterdam. 4,000 police officers and gendarmes were deployed around and, rarely, in the Stade de France, as well as on public transport and throughout Paris.
