The significant increase in crude oil production in Nigeria, achieved through close collaboration between NNPC and its partners, is in line with the targets set by President Bola Tinubu. From 1.8 mbd, it could reach 2 million barrels daily by the end of the year.
Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, has announced that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) and its partners have increased crude oil and gas production to 1.8 million barrels per day (mbpd) and 7.4 standard cubic feet per day (scfd).
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, Lokpobiri said the 1.8 million barrels per day production was achieved in line with the mandate of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.
He expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance and promised that the Nigerian government would support the company to do more.
The NNPCL Group Managing Director, Mr. Mele Kyari, commended the production team, who anchored the production turnaround process.
« The team has done an excellent job leading this project of not only recovering production, but also escalating production to levels acceptable in the short and long term for our shareholders, in accordance with the mandates we received from the president, minister and board of directors “, said Mr. Kyari.
The Chief Coordinator of the Production War Room and Senior Advisor to the Group Managing Director, Mr. Lawal Musa, gave details of the war room efforts and revealed that the feat was achieved through the collaboration of the joint venture and production sharing contract partners, the Office of the National Security Advisor, as well as government and private sector security agencies.
He pointed out that when the production war room team was inaugurated on June 25, 2024, production was 1,430 mb/d, but thanks to the action of this team, production was able to be maintained at 1.7 mb/d in August, then reaching the current level of 1.808 mb/d in November.
« We are convinced that with the same momentum and active collaboration of all stakeholders, especially on the security front, we can consider the possibility of reaching 2 mbd by the end of the year “, declared Mr. Musa, quoted by local media.
