Last weekend, Charleroi ended a long series of defeats by overcoming Westerlo (1-0). A result which allowed the Zebras to move away a little from the red zone.
The Carole club, which is celebrating its 120th anniversary this season, hopes to continue with good results after the international break. It is also very likely that the club will strengthen itself this winter to experience a quieter second part of the season. The arrival of a scorer is impatiently awaited by Rik De Mil and the supporters.
In the meantime, Medhi Bayat continues her work with the ambition of winning a first title in the years to come: “It will be an exceptional moment. I hope that it will happen as soon as possible, with or without me,” confides- he says in Sudinfo. “But my job is above all to ensure the future of the club. To ensure that, on the day I leave, there will be a new stadium and a new training center worthy of the name.”
Bayat wants to take an example from Ghent
Bayat sees things big for Charleroi and does not hesitate to take inspiration from a big Belgian club: “Ghent won its first Belgian championship title a year after the construction of its new stadium. It is an example to be continued.”
Bayat is cautious
To be able to win a title, it is obvious that Charleroi will have to be more ambitious on the transfer market: “We will have to take risks, I agree. But not reckless risks. A large number of Belgian clubs are close to bankruptcy. Without foreign support, they will completely disappear from the footballing landscape. This is not what I want for Charleroi,” concludes Bayat.
