A fire broke out on Wednesday November 13, 2024, at 11:15 p.m., in the Kermelven manor, which dates from the 19th century, and which is located in the town of Plouisy (22), near Guingamp.

The second floor of this building measuring 150 m² was completely destroyed. “When we arrived, the roof was completely engulfed in flames,” relates Captain Bruno Taton, head of the intervention, who led up to 30 firefighters at the height of the mobilization, coming from nine emergency centers (Guingamp, Pommerit-le-Vicomte, Bgard, Goudelin, Pontrieux, Lanvollon, Belle-Isle-en-Terre, Lannion and Saint-Brieuc).

Two men hospitalized

With two objectives in mind, “to contain the disaster and provide assistance to the four occupants”, underlines the head of the Goudelin center. Two men aged 62 and 29 were transported to the Guingamp hospital center following burns and a high CO level. Two women aged 59 and 16 were unhurt. They were rehoused overnight with the mayor, Rémy Guillou. “There are not enough hotels in Guingamp. I called them at 1:30 a.m., they were all full,” laments the Plouisyan councilor.

A call for donations

The latter also launched a call for donations: “The collection point will be the town hall. The family lost everything in the fire, they need clothes for women size 44-46 and 36-38 and men size S and M, as well as shoes for men size 43 and women size 39.”

The day after the intervention, the firefighters set up a watch to avoid a resumption of fire. “Monitoring will continue until 8 p.m. this Thursday evening,” indicates Bruno Taton.
