It's the big day that radio bosses and listeners are impatiently waiting for. This Thursday, November 14, 2024, Médiamétrie published the audience results for the September-October 2024 wave. And RTL marks a major first which it unfortunately cannot rejoice in.
Upheaval in the Top 3 concerning radio audiences
The years go by but the first place is always occupied by the same leader. Since 2019, France Inter has indeed been at the top of the rankings. For this period, public radio directed by Adèle Van Reeth can boast of having an average of 7.20 million daily listeners, setting a new record. Since between January and March 2024, it was at 7.18 million. Over one year, the station attracted 265,000 more people, while the radio media lost 295,000 pairs of ears over one year).
RTL unfortunately cannot rejoice as much since it lost its second place to take third place. An earthquake for the station which, for the first time in its history, fell below the 5 million mark (-307,000 listeners over one year). Are the changes made at the start of the school year to blame? Because we remind you, Thomas Sotto replaces Yves Calvi in the morning. The latter is now in charge of RTL Good evening. Faustine Bollaert also arrived in the evening with Hero. Despite everything, Laurent Ruquier congratulated himself on Big Heads. “Despite much stronger competition than previous seasons (well done to my colleagues from Europe 1 and France Inter), Les Grosses Têtes on @RTLFrance remains LEADER on all radio stations between 3:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., achieving at least 4 times more audience than 'Europe 1 and 30% more than France Inter“, wrote Hugo Manos' companion.
France Info in 2nd place
It is now France Info which sits in second place although it has lost 18,000 listeners. The station is now listened to on average by 4.97 million listeners. France Culture is also having a great start to the school year with more than 2 million listeners on average. (+267,000 over one year). It is thus in tenth place, after Europe 1 which gained 347,000 listeners over one year, we must congratulate Pascal Praud and Cyril Hanouna… Europe 2 on the other hand, another station in the group, lost 351,000 listeners and is thus listened to by less than a million people.
NRJ maintains its status as the leading music radio station in France (it sits in 4th place in the ranking with 4,145,000 million listeners), despite its loss of 277,000 over one year. Nostalgie, for its part, gained 374,000 listeners and is in fifth place.
Skyrock recorded the biggest drop of all radio stations over one year (-428,000). RMC has also lost color since it does not reach the threshold of 3 million listeners.
