A true pillar of the Tenth Art, Warcraft has largely helped Blizzard build its empire and the firm has not forgotten its first loves. This night the Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct was held, a somewhat special event since beyond the simple celebration of a license which changed everything, it was indeed a refurbishment which was announced: Warcraft I Remastered et Warcraft 2 Remastered were thus made official… and were even released straight away. This therefore confirms the rumors which fueled the various internet forums as recently as a week ago.
Because before the MMO World of Warcraft does not take up all the space to hold it even today, Blizzard had actually offered particularly cult real-time strategy games more soberly titled Warcraft. The first of the name, Warcraft : Orcs and Humanswas released in 1994 while Warcraft II : Tides of Darkness offered in 1995 (it was even Ubisoft which had ensured the edition in Europe, curious, right?).
The remastered versions in question here then benefit from new graphics, with completely reworked textures and models, unbridled image definition and framerate (we can switch to the old graphics in the blink of an eye for those nostalgic), as well as music and sounds that are now uncompressed and better balanced. New options have also been added, such as the possibility of customizing in-game shortcuts, accessing an updated ranking thanks to Battle.net with even online multiplayer games for Warcraft II Remastered.
In terms of price, be aware that Warcraft Remastered is sold at 9.99 euros while its sequel is offered at 14.99 euros. Be careful though, we are only talking about PC versions here, no Mac version being (for the moment?) in the program.
Warcraft 3 Reforged also in the spotlight
Published in 2020, the revamp of the cult RTS Warcraft III : Reign of Chaos was also discussed during the Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct with the announcement of a brand new and rather substantial update 2.0. This aims to provide a general graphic facelift to the game with more detailed textures, an improvement in resolution and framerate, but also the possibility for players to choose between the original graphics or the new ones… with even the comfort of mixing the two according to their own preferences. We recall that Warcraft III : Reforged is available at the price of 29.99 euros on Windows but also MacOS, both operating systems thus receiving this new update.
Finally, know that there is also the “Battle Chest de Warcraft Remastered“, which is none other than a dematerialized compilation including Warcraft Remastered, Warcraft II Remastered et Warcraft 3 Reforged for the modest sum of 39.99 euros on Battle.net. There you go, you know everything now.
