To avoid the slightest incident during the football match between France and Israel this Thursday, the Ministry of the Interior mobilized 4,000 police officers and gendarmes at the Stade de France and 1,500 elsewhere in Paris. No Palestinian flags will be allowed.
It’s this evening: France-Israel, at the Stade de France, a meeting classified as very “high risk”, closely scrutinized by the authorities. In a Telegram that we were able to consult, the Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau gave his final instructions to the 4,000 police and gendarmes deployed inside, but also outside the stadium.
Two elite units deployed
Around the Dyonesian enclosure, 26 companies of CRS and mobile gendarmes will be deployed to control the supporters, with the obligation to show an identity document to access the stadium. The system will be extended to the entire capital, with 1,500 police officers also being mobilized elsewhere in Paris. “We will exercise very particular surveillance in neighborhoods, in places which are frequented by our compatriots of the Jewish faith,” assured Bruno Retailleau. The latter also informed of the presence of police forces in civilian clothes.
Police will be present on public transport, and buses will be requisitioned to transport highly secured Israeli fans once they enter the stadium. A rare, even unprecedented thing: two elite units, the BRI and the RAID, will be deployed alongside Mossad, the Israeli secret services. Additional security for the 150 to 200 supporters from Israel, all installed in high parking.
