For several months, Martin had been in weakened health. Despite the expensive care provided to him, he unfortunately died this Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the age of 28. The Avon'Ânes association, which welcomes equines in the Bel-Ébat park, in Avon (Seine-et-Marne), launches an appeal to support them. In fact, since this summer, several interventions by a veterinarian have been necessary to provide care to Martin, who was suffering from cushinga disease linked to aging, caused by hormonal dysregulation.
Avon'Ânes in difficulty after treatment to relieve Martin
In addition, Martin suffered from hemorrhagic cystitis, osteoarthritis and anemia: pathologies which required numerous necessary expenses, but which damaged the accounts of the association, which today finds itself with load of four other donkeys.
“Since August, we have faced hospitalization costs and mobilization of experts such as a veterinarian, an osteopath and a farrier to provide care for Martin,” explains Virginie Laurent, treasurer of the Avon'ânes association.
Imperative care for the donkey which was at the origin of the creation of the association, but whose cost today weighs on its financial health. “Despite strong mobilization from our members and volunteers, this is no longer enough to absorb the costs,” she continues. We appeal to residents and animal lovers. »
The Saint-Fiacre bakery to the rescue
As usual, the Saint-Fiacre bakery responded to help finance Martin's care at the end of October, by donating part of the sales of pastries to the association, but this represents more than €2,500 in care expenses. which have already been undertaken for the association and which jeopardize the continuation of the activities.
“In the name of Martin, but also Myrtille, Lasco, Kakou and Melba, our other residents, we thank in advance all those who can make a gesture,” she concludes.
