A success for the open day of art foundries

The Inverness Art Foundries Open Day, held on Saturday June 8, was a resounding success. Despite rainy weather, the public turned out in large numbers, probably encouraged by the fact that the majority of activities took place indoors.

Four sites were accessible free of charge for the event: the Bronze Museum – Interpretation Center, the Denis Gagnon Gallery, the Inverness Art Foundry/Anne Renard Gallery and the Bronze Workshop. It was the first time in five years that the foundries had opened their doors to the public, sparking great interest. In total, 1,350 visitors from across Quebec explored the site.

At the Bronze Museum, visitors were particularly captivated by the “Entre Voir” exhibition by sculptor Éric Lapointe, which was a great success. The galleries, for their part, amazed the public with their numerous works.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the bronze castings at the foundries, scheduled for 2 p.m. For the occasion, special arrangements had been made, with the installation of platforms and projectors to provide better visibility and increased capacity.

The organizers of the event, namely the Inverness Art Foundry, the Bronze Workshop, the Bronze Museum and the Municipality of Inverness, are delighted with the attendance and enthusiasm generated by this day. They are proud to have been able to introduce the public to the secrets of the art foundry.

For those who missed the event, the Bronze Museum – Art Foundry Interpretation Center, will be open until October 13 and will offer bronze castings in virtual reality.

This project was carried out thanks to the financial support of the Government of Quebec and the MRC de L’Érable as part of the Cultural Development Agreement of the MRC de L’Érable.
