Two days after the charity day organized on June 16 on the Merdassou site, Helena Daelman is mixed about the results of the event which was supposed to restore financial balance to the Livradais animal shelter, Inaya. “First of all, I would like to greatly thank everyone who got involved, who helped, before, during and even after this very important day for us. It was a huge job, and the people did a great job. In particular to carry out and ensure logistics on the ground, reception, on-site entertainment during the garage sale, the animal welfare fair, the lottery, ticket sales and even on-site catering. Without forgetting the performance of the musicians in the evening. And then we also had to dismantle and put away all the equipment,” underlines the manager.

She took stock of the very objective of the day: the finances of the structure. “Once the fees are paid, the profit from this day is far, very far from making up the deficit of the shelter. We hoped to be able to erase the 24,000 euros of debt. We barely have 1,300 euros in profits. We need to meet again to talk about what happens next. And continue to communicate, work to save this refuge. » This includes other upcoming events on the site, renewing, among other things, other editions of the musical evening, the garage sale and the wellness fair, independently of this day, at another time of the year.

Very early in the morning and until the end of the evening, volunteers and managers animated the day.

Adoption day Saturday

“As far as finances are concerned, I am convinced that donations from individuals, patrons and businesses can really help us,” underlines Helena Daelman. Which reminds us that “unfortunately, our shelter does not receive any subsidy from the Department or the municipality. Whether in operating or exceptional subsidies, we have no aid, which makes operations even more difficult. »

Inaya is organizing a special kitten adoption day at the sanctuary, this Saturday, June 22, as well as a Caddy day at Terranimo, in Agen.
