A few days ago, RyseUp Studios began teasing the next major update to Roboquest, the excellent cooperative Fast-FPS roguelite available in Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. As the deployment of the Endless Updatethe studio today provides some details on the new features to come.
RyseUp Studios shares first details on the Endless Update
As you might expect from the name of the update, this new version of the game will include an endless mode. It is therefore an alternative experience, completely separate from classic runs.
To unlock this mode, you will need to have beaten the final boss the first time on Guardian difficulty 1 or higher, or simply craft the passage with wrenches at the camp. Just like with normal runs, it will be necessary before entering the Endless portal and choosing a difficulty and class.
Embarking on this experience will allow you to go through a series of endless levels, with unique variations. RyseUp Studios states that the levels are short and full of enemies, some have combat and challenge rooms, and others do not. Finally, we learn that playing Endless will not progress the quests and the story.
The studio explained that it did not want to opt for a loop of classic runs, in particular because such a solution would have caused some problems:
- After your first run, there wouldn’t be much more to give you without breaking the power cap one way or another (you or the enemies)
- The basic path of the game’s levels and the quests (and other interactables) therein are designed to be encountered once per run, it doesn’t make much sense to go through them several times in a row
- Repeating the same steps in the same order would quickly become boring.
- This meant we needed to find something different than just looping through the base game.
This major update to Roboquest will be available at the end of November on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and Windows Store. If you are a subscriber to Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass, we can only advise you to embark on the adventure, especially in cooperation!
Remember that Roboquest is now planned for PS4 and PS5 and will be cross-platform compatible. Also, a VR version of Roboquest, developed by Flat2VR Studios, will be released in 2025 on Steam VR, MetaQuest and Playstation VR2.
