HAS At this pace, we will soon know the lands of Westeros better than our pockets. While the madness Game Of Thrones grabs the public again with the broadcast of a beautiful second season of House of the DragonHBO announces the start of a new series derived from its successful fantasy saga.

Titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the show is just starting filming in Ireland, in Belfast, this week. But we already know a lot about what its framework will be. Adapted from the novel The Hedge Knight, written by George R.R. Martin [le papa de Game of Thrones, NDLR] and published in 1998, it will recount events occurring a hundred years before those depicted in The iron Throne.

We will follow therefore the wanderings, across the continent of Westeros, of the young and fiery knight Duncan The Great andAegon Targaryen – known as “the Egg » –, his squire, at a time when the Targaryen line is still sovereign. “ D“Great destinies, powerful enemies and dangerous exploits await these improbable and incomparable friends,” the synopsis even promises. Don’t throw any more away!

Game Of Thrones, the talent factory

Before announcing the sequel, let’s not lose sight of the fact that the franchise Game Of Thrones knew how to reveal talents – Emilia Clarke (Daenerys) and Kit Harington (Jon Snow) can attest to this. Tradition respected here, since the poster will bring together actors who are still little known to the general public. We will thus find the former rugby player Peter Claffey (also an actor in the series Wreck), in the role of Duncan.

He will be accompanied by Dexter Sol Ansell, the 9-year-old prodigy – already (timidly) seen in the soap opera Emmerdale or the latest spin-off of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of the Serpent and the Songbird , who was chosen to play Aegon. The cast will be completed by some names a little better known to series fans, such as Finn Bennett (seen in True Detective: Night Country alongside Jodie Foster) and Daniel Ings (who played the role of Prince Philip’s private secretary in The Crown)…

Same observation in the production, since the rather discreet Sarah Adina Smith (Hannah, Lessons in Chemistry) will go behind the camera for three of the six episodes of the series and that Owen Harris (three episodes of Black Mirror), also executive producer, will take care of the other three.

Let us remind those concerned that Ryan J. Condal’s greatest accomplishment, before realizing House of the Dragonwas to have staged the very absurd Rampage (2018), with Dwayne Johnson… There is hope!
