1.20 euros per ticket

The “1 trip” ticket purchased on the ground (on vending machines or at Idélis points of sale) will now be sold for 1.20 euros compared to 1 euro previously. This same ticket, purchased directly on the bus, costs from 1.30 to 1.50 euros. “The price range of the Pau network was well below the average price of cities of comparable size,” assures Idélis.

The transport network also indicates that new prices and new offers will be put in place this summer. For example, a 7-day pass will be offered at 14 euros and another, called the Tribu Pass, will be sold for 6 euros. “Aware of the efforts that these changes imply, the choice was made to maintain the 10-trip ticket at 10 euros. To support young people in their mobility, a reduction on the 18-25 year old subscription is offered at the rate of 14 euros per month or 120 euros per year,” explains Idélis.

To justify these price increases, Idélis argues that Stap, which operates the network “is faced, like all companies, with a continuous increase in all of its costs in recent years”: “The financial balance of the company has therefore been ensured by a 21% increase in 6 years in the flat-rate contribution paid each year by the mobility union.

As Nicolas Patriarche, the president of the union, recently mentioned, the share borne by the contribution of users to the real cost of the public service “has decreased significantly over the same period, going from 18% in 2014 to 14% in 2023”. Idélis continues and affirms that it was therefore “obvious that a price increase, already carried out by many other urban areas, is essential for us to have tomorrow the necessary means to guarantee a quality of service identical to today”.

As a reminder, the bus network surpassed its 2019 attendance record last year, surpassing the 9.5 million passenger mark. The goal is now 10 million for 2026.
