The call for publishers for the Five Continents Prize is open until July 31, 2024

Since 2001, the Prize of the Five Continents of the Francophonie highlights literary talents emerging or confirmed in French-speaking literature, representing the expression of cultural and editorial diversity in the French language on five continents.

May compete for this Prize, narrative works of fiction (novel, story, collection of short stories) written in French and published on behalf of a publisher, between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024, by a French-speaking publishing house having a distribution circuit in bookstores. Authors cannot apply directly.

Six reading committees representing geographical diversity and a plurality of perspectives evaluate the works received. From more than 200 works read and after extensive discussions, ten finalists are selected. Then, the international jury composed of personalities from the literary world meets and the announcements of the “winner” and “special mention” are done during the awards ceremony.

Endowments of the winners

  • The winner of the Prix des cinq continents de la francophonie receives an endowment in the amount of €15,000;
  • If the international jury decides to award a special mention, the prize for this award is €5,000.
  • The winning authors become members of the jury for the next edition of the Prize.
  • Furthermore, the OIF undertakes to promote the winning works and their authors until the next edition of the Prize.

Publishers can register their authors on a dedicated platform until July 31, 2024.
