After months of construction, Route 311 is once again accessible to motorists. Last May, a fire damaged the bridge located on this road and led to its closure.

According to Paul Wiebe, RM of Hanover Fire Chief, a fire set for burning in an agricultural field was the cause of the fire which spread to the two structures located between the communities of New Bothwell and by Blumenort.

Initially, fire crews attempted to put out a fire on the Route 26 East bridge before noticing that smoke was coming from a nearby bridge on Route 311, which is located about a kilometer further.

The small bridge on Route 26 East was completely destroyed, while that on Route 311 was seriously damaged and had to be dismantled.
