Three romans and one BD : this is the selection for the literary prize Teen hearts. Middle school students have until April 2025 to choose their favorite book.

This is the sixth edition of this event organized by the library network of the Community of Municipalities of Sister Citiesin partnership with La Providence and Louis-Philllipe colleges Eufrom Rachel Salmona College in Tréport and the Joliot-Curie college of Mers-les-Bainswith the support of the Bibliothèque pour Tous de Eu.

“Debates”

This year, the presentation took place for the first time at the Documentation and Information Center (CDI) of the Collège la Providence in Eu.

“The objective is to give adolescents a taste for reading,” says Michel Barbiervice-president of the Community of Communes. “The reading committee had the difficult task of selecting these four recent French-speaking works. These are books about real life or fantasy universes, which evoke social themes that speak to young people.” The organizers also emphasize the choice of different works, “because not all middle school students have the same interest in reading.”

The selection

The books in the selection for the 2025 Teen Hearts Prize are:

The call of the void by Marin Ledun, Rageot, 2024
My little she-wolf, by Camille Garoche, Delcourt, 2024.
The kiwi theorem by Jacky Schwartzmann, School of Leisure, 2024.
Silk: The orphans of Argentan, Alice Brière-Hacquet, Rouergue, 2024.

Michel Barbier adds that the main point remains the organization of meetings with the authors, remotely, but also in the presence of the writers. “It’s an opportunity for debate, between young people, but also within families.”

Participants can borrow the books in the selection from CDIs or libraries. They can then vote for their favorite work until April 2025.
