A new software update was implemented by Apple for AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 2 last night: the firmware goes from version 7B19 to version 7B20 for AirPods 4, and to version 7B21 for AirPods Pro 2. On its website, Apple indicates that it is about bringing “bug fixes and other improvements”. There is therefore no new functionality, simply fixes whose content is not specified.
It was firmware 7B19, launched at the end of October, which brought the AirPods Pro 2 their hearing assistance features which are unfortunately not yet available in France. This firmware was also launched for the AirPods 4 a few days later, without us knowing what changes it brought to the latter.
In any case, remember that software updates are installed automatically on AirPods: you can try to force fate by storing the headphones in their charging case near the iPhone, but there is still no way to trigger the installation manually. You can check the software version of your AirPods in the Settings app > General > Info > AirPods […].
