This Tuesday, November 12, in Privas, the family of little Nolan will find themselves with the driver of a bus in front of the criminal court. Two years after the events, it will be a question of knowing the circumstances of the tragedy which took place in Guilherand-Granges, in Ardèche.
That day, eight-year-old Nolan was returning from a bike ride with his family. Approaching the Mistral bridge which spans the Rhône to Valence, the young cyclist was fatally hit by a bus.
The driver of the vehicle is on trial for “involuntary manslaughter”. Since this accident, Nolan's mother has been waiting for the truth about what happened on November 26, 2022. The use of images from the municipality's video surveillance cameras yielded nothing. They only allow us to see the cyclists circulating and then the bus involved, but the accident took place out of the camera's field of view. It is therefore impossible to determine the exact trajectories of the cyclist and the bus at the time of the incident.

Since the accident, work has been carried out. Access to the bridge presented a real danger for cyclists.“They made cycle paths, but to get on, it remains very dangerous” according to Mélissa Chaix, Nolan’s mother.
Since the accident, family and loved ones have paid tribute to the little boy. Gatherings are taking place at the scene of the accident.
