. Two emblematic gates of Place Stanislas left their setting this Friday, November 22, 2024. A necessary trip to allow the consolidation of the foundations of the Hôtel de la Reine as part of its renovation.

In Video. Explanations from Bertrand Masson, deputy mayor of Nancy, delegate for culture and Gérald Defrance, director of Les Métalliers Lorrains.

The operation, which began at the beginning of November with the removal of the lanterns and the upper parts of the grilles, was completed this Friday morning. Two emblematic gates located on either side of the Alliot building on the side of rue Sainte Catherine and rue Préfet Erignac, were removed by the company Métalliers Lorrains.

A spectacular operation which required the arrival of an exceptional convoy with a truck crane equipped with a lifting winch in order to lift the two heavy structures weighing several tonnes and place them on a tank carrier.

This removal is part of the consolidation project for the foundations of the Alliot Pavilion. To carry out this work, the company -Lanord & Bichaton must excavate to a depth of approximately 2.50 meters around the entire periphery of the building, underlines the City of Nancy.

After leaving their stone base, these gates will be kept secure while the work takes place to return to Place Stanislas by 2026. In the meantime, a security fence measuring 36m60 x 2m50 has been installed in front of the Hôtel de la Reine by the City of Nancy as well as a trompe l'oeil of the building on a 1/1 scale to beautify the space.
